proEXPLO 2026 Launches an International Competition to Promote Young Talent in Mining Exploration

Young people from around the world will present their research works at Latin America's leading mining exploration event, to be held next year in Peru.

Lima, November 12, 2025.- The Organizing Committee of the 15th International Congress of Prospectors and Explorers (proEXPLO 2026) announced the call for participation in the Third International Student Competition. This initiative seeks to foster young talent and promote geoscientific research as a driver of sustainable development in mining.

As part of proEXPLO 2026, the most important mining exploration event in Latin America, the contest brings together professionals, investors, academics, and authorities to share knowledge, experiences, and innovative technologies applied to mineral resource exploration.

Participants and thematic areas

The competition targets undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students from academic institutions worldwide, who will have the chance to present their research works in oral or poster format during the congress. Geologists and geological engineers who have defended their theses throughout 2025 are also eligible to participate, thereby broadening the opportunity to showcase high-level academic work.

“Through this competition, we want to give visibility to new scientific and technical talent that represents the future of responsible and innovative mining. proEXPLO is a high-level space for sharing knowledge and recognizing academic excellence,” said the event's Organizing Committee.

Participants will be able to address a wide variety of topics, including discoveries and advances in mineral exploration, applied technological innovation, geosciences, metals market, sustainability, education, inclusion and diversity, and legal framework and permitting. The qualifying jury is composed of leading specialists in the sector, who will evaluate the works; their decision will be announced on Monday, December 15, 2025.

The call for papers is open to mining exploration professionals interested in sharing innovations and advances in areas such as discoveries, technology, geoscience, market, environment, inclusion, and education. The thematic areas are:
