
proEXPLO, the most important mining exploration event in the region, expects visitors from all over the world in Peru
The last edition of proEXPLO managed to bring together more than 4,000 attendees, with professionals from 27 countries.
Lima, October 3, 2025.- The new edition of the International Congress of Prospectors and Explorers - proEXPLO 2026, has the motto "Promoting discovery for a sustainable future. " The most significant mining exploration event in the Andean region is set to take place in Lima next May, with professionals from around the world expected to attend.
The event aims to highlight the importance of exploration for the identification and enhancement of the minerals that the world needs for its electrification (energy transition). In its 2025 edition, proEXLO brought together more than 4000 professionals from 27 countries, including entrepreneurs from the mining industry, government authorities, representatives of organizations specialized in earth exploration and analysis, as well as researchers and academics.
In this new edition, proEXPLO aims to increase international industry participation. To this end, keynote speeches, specialized courses, core shacks, field trips to world-renowned mining sites in Peru, and an exhibition fair are being organized.
Leaders promote proEXPLO 2026
The proEXPLO Organizing Committee is led by Adán Pino, Exploration Manager for Peru–Ecuador at Barrick. He is accompanied by César Riofrío, senior geologist at Teck Resources Limited; Fernando Rivera, senior geologist at Antofagasta Minerals; Santiago Arnillas, senior geoscientist at BHP; Adriana Aurazo, Vice President of Environmental, Social and Sustainability Affairs at Southern Peaks Mining; and Graciela Arrieta, Executive Director of the Australia-Peru Chamber of Commerce.
Other leaders who accompany them are Gisella Lombardi, manager of Permitting and Government Affairs at Teck Resources Limited; Alberto Torres, director of the Professional School of Mining Engineering of the Universidad de San Marcos; Carlos Galdames, leader of Oportunidades Andes at BHP; Santiago Paredes, district geologist at Barrick Gold Corporation; and Gustavo De Vinatea, general manager of the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP).
Current call
Currently, proEXPLO is in the phase of calling for technical papers until November 30. The most outstanding and innovative projects will be selected by the technical committee for presentation during the event, where experiences, research, and advances in mining exploration will be shared.
There are eight thematic axes established for this edition: discoveries and advances in greenfield and brownfield exploration projects; innovation and technological advances applied to the exploration of mineral resources; new geoscientific knowledge applied to the exploration of mineral systems; analysis of the commodity and capital market; environment, society, and governance; inclusion and diversity; education; and legal framework and permits (regulation).

proEXPLO will take place from May 4 to 6 at the Jockey Exhibition Center in Lima, Peru, a spacious venue equipped to welcome all visitors. The event is organized by the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers, a professional association with more than 81 years of institutional history.
