
The Organizing Committee for proEXPLO 2026 Is Made Up Of Prominent Leaders From The Mining And Academic Sectors
The event, with the theme “Promoting discovery for a sustainable future,” will also bring together geologists, investors, government representatives, and technical experts from around the world.
Lima, November 06, 2025.- The Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) announced that the Organizing Committee for the 15th International Congress of Prospectors and Explorers (proEXPLO 2026) is made up of prominent leaders from the mining and academic sectors, headed by Adán Pino, Barrick's Exploration Manager for Peru and Ecuador.
The proEXPLO organizing committee consists of distinguished professionals who bring their extensive technical, academic, and management experience in various key areas of the event. From coordinating the technical, ESG, inclusion, education, and legal sections to organizing field visits and specialized courses, each member plays a role in ensuring the comprehensive and successful development of the congress.
“This new edition of proEXPLO seeks to highlight the essential role of mining exploration in identifying and responsibly exploiting the mineral resources required for the energy transition and global electrification. The commitment and leadership of these professionals strengthen the quality and scope of the event as a benchmark in the mining industry,” said Pino.
The organizing committee is made up of: Gustavo De Vinatea, general manager of the IIMP; César Riofrío, senior geologist at Teck Resources Limited as head of the Technical Section and responsible for Core Shack; Fernando Rivera, senior geologist at Antofagasta Minerals, as head of the Technical Section and Core Shack; Santiago Arnillas, principal geoscientist at BHP, responsible for the Technical Section and Core Shack; and Adriana Aurazo, vice president of Environmental, Social, and Sustainability Affairs at Southern Peaks Mining, responsible for the ESG Section.
The committee also includes: Graciela Arrieta, executive director of the Australia-Peru Chamber of Commerce, responsible for the Inclusion and Diversity Section; Gisella Lombardi, manager of Permits and Government Affairs at Teck Resources Limited, responsible for the Legal Framework and Permits Section; Alberto Torres, director of the Professional School of Mining Engineering at the National University of San Marcos, responsible for the Education Section; Carlos Galdames, leader of Oportunidades Andes at BHP, responsible for Field Visits; and Santiago Paredes, district geologist at Barrick Gold Corporation, responsible for Pre- and Post-Event Courses.
