Lima, March 9, 2026.- The progress and potential of some of the region’s most important mining projects, including La Granja, Elida, and Zafranal, will be discussed at proEXPLO 2026, Latin America’s leading mining exploration congress, which will take place from May 4 to 6 at the Centro de Exposiciones Jockey, in Lima.

The event will bring together geologists, researchers, and executives from international mining companies, who will share new geological findings, exploration models, and perspectives on the discovery of major mineral deposits.

Projects Under Development

Among the highlighted presentations is “La Granja: Advances in Geological Technical Knowledge for Modern Mining,” to be delivered by Rafael Roberto, Senior Geologist at First Quantum Minerals, who will present recent progress in the geological understanding of this major copper project.

In addition, Manuel Montoya, Vice President of Exploration for South America at GlobeTrotters Resource Group Inc., will present an update on the potential of the Elida project, considered one of the most promising copper discoveries in Peru in recent years.

The program will also include the presentation “Zafranal District: An Example of Multiple Magmatic-Hydrothermal Events,” to be delivered by Américo León, Senior Project Geologist at Teck Perú, where the geological evolution of this important copper district will be analyzed.

Other projects of major interest to the mining industry will also be discussed during the congress. Among them is San Gabriel, which will be presented by José Aquino. This gold project, owned by Compañía de Minas Buenaventura and located in Moquegua, is in its final stage of development and is expected to produce between 130,000 and 150,000 ounces of gold per year, positioning it as one of the country’s significant upcoming contributors to gold production.

The program will also include a presentation on Ayawilca, one of the leading zinc exploration projects in Peru with significant geological growth potential, to be presented by Jorge Gamarra, General Manager of Tinka Resources.

Global Exploration

The program will also include the Picha project, presented by Jhony Vargas of Mammoth Mineral Limited, which explores the potential for porphyry-type systems in southern Peru and seeks to open new opportunities for the discovery of copper deposits in the region.

In addition, experts from international companies such as Rio2 Limited, Hannaan Metals, Turmalina Metals, and Equinox Gold will share updates on exploration activities and the discovery of new mineralized systems. Among the cases to be presented is the Fenix Gold project of Rio2, considered one of the largest undeveloped oxide gold projects in the Americas, with measured and indicated resources of approximately 4.8 million ounces of gold.

The program will also highlight discoveries in new geological frontiers in Peru, such as the Valiente project by Hannaan Metals, which is exploring vast underexplored areas in the Sub-Andean region in search of large porphyry copper-gold systems, identifying multiple mineralized targets within an emerging district.

Additional initiatives include the Colquemayo project of Turmalina Metals in southern Peru, which is investigating epithermal copper, silver, and gold systems with the potential to evolve into porphyry-type deposits, as well as exploration experiences from major global companies such as Rio Tinto, Barrick Gold, and BHP, leaders in mining exploration worldwide.

Through these presentations, proEXPLO 2026 positions itself as a key platform for learning about new areas with geological potential, exploration technologies, and real-world examples of major mineral discoveries.
