Heading to proEXPLO addressed the current view of skarn deposits and CRDs in Peru and the world
Four distinguished speakers, including Zhaoshan Chang, Peter Megaw, Juan Taco and Luis Giraldo, participated in the event.
Lima, August 7, 2024. As a prelude to the 14th International Congress of Prospectors and Explorers - proEXPLO 2025, the Organizing Committee held its second Heading to proEXPLO seminar, entitled “Current overview of skarn deposits and CRDs in Peru and around the world”.
It was held virtually and featured four distinguished speakers. One of them was Zhaoshan Chang, Professor of Economic Geology at the Colorado School of Mines, who presented on skarn deposits in Peru. Peter Megaw, Consulting Exploration Geologist, President of IMDEX/Cascabel and co-founder of MAG Silver and Minaurum Gold, also presented on the subject of Mexican CRDs.
Also present was Juan Taco, corporate head of Greenfield Exploration at Nexa Resources, who gave a presentation on "Zn-Pb-Ag-(Cu) CRD and skarn deposit at Hilarion, Ancash, Peru". Finally, Luis Giraldo, Exploration Manager of Tinka Resources, participated with the topic "Ayawilca Project, a CRD type deposit with high zinc grade in central Peru". The session was hosted by Rosa Jara, senior Project Geoscientist at Rio Tinto.
Among the attendees were members of the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP) as well as the general public interested in mining exploration.
