proEXPLO expects more than 3,000 visitors from more than 30 countries

Walter Tejada, president of proEXPLO 2025, explained that during the three-day mining event, there will be nine keynote lectures with international speakers.

Lima, September 25, 2024. The president of the 14th International Congress of Prospectors and Explorers - proEXPLO 2025, Walter Tejada, said that for the mining event to be held from May 5 to 7 next year at the Lima Convention Center, more than 3,000 visitors from more than 30 countries are expected. This was stated in an exclusive interview with the program Diálogos Mineros of the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP).

“ProEXPLO is probably the most important mineral exploration conference in the Latin American region. We are expecting around 3,000 visitors during the three-day conference. And ProEXPLO is an international mining conference. In the 2023 edition we had about 30 countries present at the conference, so we expect a similar or maybe even higher number in the 2025 edition,” said the engineer.

What will the event offer? This time, 9 keynote lectures will be given by international speakers. “The issues to be addressed cover a wide range of aspects both technical and aspects linked to the exploration business. That is, capital flows, the state of the markets and raw materials,” said Tejada.

Confirmed speakers for the mining event include Richard Goldfarb, who has more than 40 years of experience as an exploration geologist, researcher and professor; Federico Cernuschi, geochemical and economic geologist at Eclectic Rock; Joe Mazumdar, geologist and economic analyst at Exploration Insights; and Regina Baumgartner, geoscientist with extensive experience in greenfield exploration and operations in Peru, Chile, Canada and the Philippines.

“The speakers we are bringing are internationally recognized at a global level and what we are doing in this edition is having a balance between very well known international speakers and others who are also well known, but who represent the younger generation. So we are going to bring together people with extensive experience as well as others who are emerging and consolidating themselves and who will make a name for themselves in our sector in the coming decades,” he noted.

Finally, Tejada highlighted that the motto of proEXPLO 2025 is “Discovering mineral resources for a better world”. In this sense, he expressed his expectation that at the end of the 14th International Congress of Prospectors and Explorers, society will understand how mining activity can bring wellbeing to the country, to the communities, and not only to the companies that are involved in it.
